The Menogyn Progression

Challenges are important to a teenager’s growth and development. Menogyn campers have opportunities to  participate in a range of wilderness adventures that become increasingly remote and demanding. Many campers begin with an 8-day adventure and end their Menogyn tenure with an epic month-long adventure!

As a part of The Menogyn Progression, campers who have gone on previous trips are selected to take part of life-changing advanced trips.  This trips are by invitation only by counselors and Camp Menogyn staff.

NOR’WESTERS | 30 – 32 days *

These adventures travel to areas located in the western United States and Southern Canada.

Campers work on leadership development while learning about whitewater paddling, offtrail hiking, and multi-pitch climbing. Campers also increase map and compass, backcountry cooking, and teamwork skills.

LONG TRIPS | 50 days *

Hommes du Nord, Femmes du Nord, Waputik, Wahkanees & Ogidabik

The pinnacles of Menogyn adventures!

We travel to the barrens of Northern Canada, Alaska or the Yukon, or rock climb in the High Sierra. Long trips offer new challenges that, when faced together, build relationships that last a lifetime. Using all the skills and expedition mentality developed on previous Menogyn trips, campers have the opportunity to experience a truly once-in-a-lifetime adventure.

*Trips are by invitation only as a part of The Menogyn Progression.

Canoeing

The reason I go to Menogyn is being able to go back to basics. I can focus on who I am on the inside, I don’t need to worry about what I look like, or how society thinks I should act. It makes me a stronger individual. I can learn to rely on myself. I also learn ways to work with other people in some of the best (and worst) conditions, a skill I have not picked up anywhere else as quickly as at Menogyn. Going to Menogyn pushes me to rely on myself, find my limits, and find the inner beauty that I, and every young person has.
