What are the ages of campers?

DAYCAMP (4-15)

  • Campers are grouped with same aged campers based on what grade they are going into in the fall.
  • Our campers start at age 4 going into Kindergarten in the fall and go up to age 15 (entering grade 10)

What are the hours of camp?

  • 8:30am-4:00 Mon-Friday (see Extended DayCroix Hours)
  • Check-in is at 8:30am
  • Pick-up is at 4:00pm
  • Thursday pick-up is 4:30 due to the Family Night Event/Dinner

What is the staff/camper ratio?

  • Wee Backpackers: 1 to 6
  • Chickadees: 1 to 8
  • Cardinals: 1 to 8
  • Eagles: 1 to 10
  • Colts and Bucks: 1 to 10
  • Teen Quest/Teen Specialty: 1 to 12
  • Specialty Camps grades 1-3: 1 to 8
  • Specialty Camps grades 4-6: 1 to 10

Can you extend day camp hours?

  • Yes. We provide extended care here at Croix.
  • Extended Care hours are from 7:00 am to 8:30am and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 p.m. The cost is $35.
  • No PM care Thursday evenings due to parent night.

Is there bus service?

  • Yes, for an additional fee based on location.
  • Transportation is available all 12 weeks from Stillwater, Bayport, and Afton-Lakeland. For $35 per week.
  • Transportation is available from June 28-August 27 from, the East YMCA and Midway YMCA.For $45 per week.

Are there any special events over the summer?

  • THURSDAY Evenings “Family Night”
  • (No Bussing Thursday afternoons)
  • Cookout for families and campers on Thursdays starting at 4:30pm.
  • Colts and Buckaroos campers have their horse show following the cookout.
  • Overnight Tent camping experience for Specialty Campers grades 4 and Up and all Day Campers grade 5 and up.

Can you register/enroll anytime?

  • Camp enrollment is on a 'first come, first serve' basis and many camps fill up early on, however, if we have an opening we will accept enrollment throughout the camp season.
  • Some camps fill fast- so we suggest that you sign up as early as possible.
  • Registrations can be done online.

Do you provide lunch?

  • An optional lunch meal plan is available for a fee of $25 per week.
  • A family cookout is served free of charge for families on Thursday evenings at Family Night.

Can campers buy snacks?

DayCroix provides a snack to campers every afternoon. No purchase necessary.

Are your groups coed?

  • Yes, all our groups are coed.
  • Sometimes a particular camp has more campers of one gender than another; the group is still open to anyone wishing to participate.

What about ticks?

We are very conscious of ticks. We train the staff throughout the summer as to what they look like, how to remove and how to dispose. We also recommend that you check you child well every night.

Can you switch from one camp program to another?

As long as there is room, you can switch your child. All changes must be in writing as least one week prior to the start of the session. A $10 change fee is applied to each change that is made. There are no refunds on registration deposits.

Is there trained medical personnel on site?

Yes. We have an trained medical staff on site during regular camp hours.

What is the waterfront like?

  • Our Waterfront staff has extensive training and certification in both lifeguard and brown water safety, as well as CPR and First Aid.
  • The ratio of lifeguards to campers is 1 lifeguard to 12 campers, well within the State and ACA standards.
  • We are located on Lake St. Croix, in an inlet portion of the St. Croix River. There is not a current within our beach area.
  • We perform buddy checks every 8 minutes to ensure that campers are following beach rules.

What do the campers do if it's raining or excessively hot?

  • The DayCroix property has indoor space to accommodate all campers during inclement weather. When the Midwest heat is at it’s peak, we cool campers down with water games in our water play area (relays, water balloons, etc)as well as getting down to the beach as much as we can.
  • In excessive heat we modify the schedule to give more time in the water and we limit high exertion activities.

What about cancellations, refunds or credits?

  • All deposits are non refundable.
  • Cancellation of the registration must be made in writing one weeks prior to the start date; otherwise you will be responsible for the entire fee.

What are the ages and experience of your staff?

  • Our Specialty Camp Leaders have special knowledge and training in that specialty area.
  • Our Camp Counselors are a minimum of 18 years old.
  • Our staff is chosen for their experience, maturity and dedication to our four core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
  • ALL CAMP STAFF UNDERGOE A BACKGROUND CHECK AND AN INTENSE TRAINING BEFORE WORKING WITH CAMPERS.
