What are the ages of campers?
OVERNIGHT CAMP
- We base our groups on the grade your child will attend in the fall.
- Our youngest campers are going into 2nd grade in the fall and go up to age 17 (entering grade 12)
What are the hours of camp?
- Check-in is between 1-3:00pm on Sundays
- Pick-up: Summer Sampler is at 1-3:00pm on Wednesdays ALL Other Sessions, between 1-3:00pm on Fridays
- Early drop off or pick-up needs to be ok’d by camp director
What is the staff/camper ratio?
- Summer Sampler: 1 to 5
- Pioneers: 1 to 8
- Homesteaders: 1 to 8
- Woodcrafters: 1 to 8
- LDP’s (Leadership Development Campers): 1 to 10
- Trail Programs: 1 to 6
Is there bus service?
- Transportation is not provided to and from camp. It is responsibility of the parent/guardian to bring the child to camp on Sunday and pick them up on their designated check-out day.
- Camp does provide all transportation of trail programs as well as emergency transportation.
Can you register/enroll anytime?
- Camp enrollment is on a 'first come, first serve' basis and many camps fill up early on, however, if we have an opening we will accept enrollment throughout the camp season.
- Some camps fill fast- so we suggest that you sign up as early as possible.
- Registrations can be done online.
Do you provide lunch?
Camp St. Croix provides all meals from Sunday Dinner to Friday Lunch.
Can campers buy snacks?
This is not available or necessary. All meals and snacks are provided by camp.
Are your groups coed?
- We have single gender cabins- based on age.
- Meals are for all groups together in our Dining Hall.
- Sometimes a trail group may travel together- yet they will be led separately by same gender counselors.
What about ticks?
We are very conscious of ticks. We train the staff throughout the summer as to what they look like, how to remove and how to dispose. We also recommend that you check you child well every night.
Can you switch from one camp program to another?
Changes to original registration form including payment must be completed in writing no later than two weeks prior to the start of your child's session and will incur a $25 change fee.
Is there trained medical personnel on site?
Yes. We have trained medical staff on site during the camp season.
What is the waterfront like?
- Our Waterfront staff has extensive training and certification in both lifeguard and brown water safety, as well as CPR and First Aid.
- The ratio of lifeguards to campers is 1 lifeguard to 12 campers, well within the State and ACA standards.
- We are located on Lake St. Croix, in an inlet portion of the St. Croix River. There is not a current within our beach area.
- We perform buddy checks every 8 minutes to ensure that campers are following beach rules.
What do the campers do if it's raining or excessively hot?
Camp has plenty of indoor space and waterfront activities to accommodate hot or inclement weather.
What about cancellations, refunds or credits?
- All deposits are non refundable.
- Cancellations due to a medical or family emergencies, please contact the camp office for the possibility of a partial refund.
- The YMCA reserves the right to cancel any program that does not meet enrollment requirements, deposits and payments will be refunded for those circumstances.
- Prior to May 2, 2011, cancellations will receive a full refund less the $150 deposit. Cancellations after May 2, 2011 are not eligible for a refund.
What are the ages and experience of your staff?
- Our Specialty Camp Leaders have special knowledge and training in that specialty area.
- Our Camp Counselors are a minimum of 18 years old.
- Our staff is chosen for their experience, maturity and dedication to our four core values of honesty, respect, responsibility and caring.
- ALL CAMP STAFF UNDERGOE A BACKGROUND CHECK AND AN INTENSE TRAINING BEFORE WORKING WITH CAMPERS.
