The Leadership Development Program (LDP) is a progressive leadership and outdoor training program, designed to provide an educational and fun environment where participants can develop their camping and leadership skills.
The Leadership Development Program provides an innovative curriculum intended to promote the YMCA's values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility and to challenge participants to be:
- positive role models
- members of society
- leaders in their communities
- potential future camp staff members.
Each year participants will have an opportunity to increase their knowledge, skills and leadership styles through the trainings offered. These trainings include:
- peronality inventory
- time mangement
- service learning
- program development
- leadership
- philosophy of progressive camping
- equipment use and care
- "Leave No Trace" camping ethics.
At the end of the Leadership Development Program participants will take with them outdoor skills, personal confidence, group facilitation skills, program planning and implementation knowledge, life long friendships, and much more.
