Outdoor Sports Specialty Camps

Develop a greater passion for the things you love, or try out something new at one of our specialty camps! At each of our specialty camps, day campers spend approximately two hours each day in their specialized activity. the remainder of the day is spent enjoying traditional camp activities.

Sports Spectacular Camp

  • Ages 6 years - Entering grade 3 in fall 2012
  • Weeks of June 11; July 9
  • Y Members: $185 per week
  • Program Participants: $212 per week

Game on! This camp is designed to teach general skills in the following sports: soccer, basketball, volleyball, climbing, swimming and other field games. Sports Camp is a safe, fun, non-competitive program designed to build teamwork, leadership skills, and self-esteem. Campers will also enjoy the outdoors while participating in traditional camp activities.

Yoga/Wellness Camp

  • Ages 6 years - Entering grade 3 in fall 2012 | Week of June 18 
  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012 | Week of August 6
  • Y Members: $185 per week  
  • Program Participants: $212 per week

Learn how yoga, meditation and good nutrition can help kids achieve a healthy lifestyle. A licensed yoga instructor and personal trainer will teach campers basic information about the importance of diet and exercise, and introductory and advanced yoga techniques including the benefits of proper breathing and stretching, and meditation. Yoga mats are provided.

Climbing Camp

  • Ages 6 years - Entering grade 3 in fall 2012 | Weeks of July 2* & 23; August 13
  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012 | Weeks of June 11; July 16
  • Y Members: $249 per week  
  • Program Participants: $275 per week

Learn the skills to scale the highest mountains! Each day of Climbing Camp focuses on a challenging element such as the giant swing, the leap of faith, the bouldering wall, and the climbing wall. Younger campers will have age-appropriate challenges. This camp is designed to get you out of your comfort zone and into an unforgettable adventure! Build your self-confidence and learn valuable skills. Choose from one of many extreme challenges this summer and watch your confidence soar to new heights!

Fishing Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Weeks of June 11 & 25; July 9 & 23; August 13
  • Y Members: $249 per week
  • Program Participants: $275 per week

Don’t let this camp be “the one that got away!” Lake St. Croix and local lakes provide the scene for shoreline and pontoon fishing using the catch and release method. With some luck, campers will bring home pictures of their “trophies!” Bait and tackle are provided, but be sure to bring your own pole!

Golf Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Weeks of June 18; July 30
  • Y Members: $249 per week
  • Program Participants: $275 per week

Fore! Besides learning golf terminology, spend the week receiving basic golf instruction. You’ll learn about proper grips, stances, and alignment for setting up great golf shots. Practice perfecting your swing at the driving range and improve your putting skills at a miniature golf course. At the end of the week, you’ll put your skills together and play a round of golf at a local golf course that will suit your golfing ability. Bring your own golf clubs!

Canoeing Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Week of June 25
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Learn paddling skills and canoe/kayak safety as you experience the challenge of navigating the water! You’ll identify the parts of the canoe and learn about the importance of weight distribution and your center of gravity. A day-long adventure down a local river will test the skills you’ve been working on all week!

Archery Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Weeks of July 9; August 6
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

While learning the fundamentals of archery, campers examine equipment close-up, identify the parts of the bow and arrow, and learn about the science behind drawing the bow and releasing the arrow. Instructors will show the proper grip, stance, and aim alignment to use while approaching the target. Campers will discover their ‘eye dominance,’ the first step in becoming a skilled archer. Archery Camp will use more advanced equipment such as Genesis Bows. Equipment will be provided.

Log Rolling Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Week of July 16
  • Y Members: $185 per week
  • Program Participants: $212 per week

Learn about the life of a lumberjack and how lumberjacks were important for building our first cities here in the U.S. Discover how the sport of log rolling or “birling” developed out of maneuvering logs down rivers to the old saw mills. This is a great camp for improving your balance and coordination! Log rolling instruction will take place at our camp beach with a trained instructor.

Water Adventure Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Weeks of July 2*; August 13
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

The hottest way to cool off this summer! Campers will spend a full week enjoying an awesome array of water activities including canoeing, kayaking, sailing and swimming! The highlight of the week will be a day at a water park!

Sailing Camp

  • Entering grades 4 - 6 in fall 2012
  • Week of August 6
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Set your sails and chart your course for excitement and adventure! Camp St. Croix has a premier sailing program and a fantastic fleet of boats! Each morning will be spent learning the basics of sailing and safety with camp instructors. Campers will be grouped according to age and ability, and will be given ample opportunity to operate the Sunfish sailboats.
