Teen Specialty Camps

Teen Specialty Camps are for teens entering grades 7 - 9 in fall 2012.

Developing leadership qualities and abilities are important life-long ingredients. our leadership camps develop the whole person — spirit, mind, and body — through a variety of service projects, hands-on activities, and team building exercises. Our leaders of tomorrow begin with our youth of today!

Teen Artists Camp

  • Week of June 18
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Self-expression comes to life in this creative, multi-faceted art camp! Let your imagination be the window of discovery as you design one-of-a-kind works with watercolors, sculpting, photography, and other art forms. Learn about composition, light, depth, dimension, contrasting, blending, and other aspects of art. A special field trip to a local art gallery will highlight the week.

Teen Digital Photography Camp

  • Week of August 13
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Say Cheese! Campers will learn the basics of lighting and composition and be able to experiment with both portrait and landscape photography. Participants in this camp must bring a digital camera.

 

Teen Canoeing Camp

  • Week of July 9
  • Y Members: $249 per week
  • Program Participants: $275 per week

Embark on a canoeing excursion full of adventure and challenges! Master the skills of navigating through fast moving water and reading the river as you explore along the St. Croix River. The highlight of the week will include preparations for a full day of canoeing and an overnight camp-out on the upper St. Croix River.

Teen Archery Camp

  • Week of July 2
  • No programs offered on Wednesday, July 4.
  • Y Members: $180 per week
  • Program Participants: $202 per week

Campers discover the science behind drawing and releasing the bow while fine tuning their archery skills. Archery lessons take place at an off-site location with professional archers. Instructors show campers the proper grip, stance, and aim alignment to use while approaching the target. Equipment will be provided.

 Teen Sailing Camp

  • Week of July 16
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Got jib? Get it here at DayCroix’s Teen Sailing Camp. Explore miles of the St. Croix River as you master the sails on our fleet of sail boats. Daily excursions involve greater challenges as you independently navigate your course along the river.

Teen Outdoor Living Skills Camp

  • Week of July 23
  • Y members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Develop your outdoor living skills with this exciting, hands-on specialty camp! Discover the finer points of preparing for your next big outdoor adventure. Campers will develop orienteering skills using a map and compass and learn about plant and animal identification. Campers will also learn a variety of useful camping skills including building a fire (without matches) making camp shelters, knot tying, campfire cooking and more!

Teen Fishing Camp

  • Week of July 30
  • Y Members: $249 per week
  • Program Participants: $275 per week

Don’t let this camp be “the one that got away!” Beautiful Lake St. Croix, Perch Lake and Willow River provide the scene for shoreline and boat fishing using the catch-and release method. Tackle and bait are provided at camp. Be sure to bring our own fishing pole!

Teen Climbing Camp

  • Week of August 6
  • Y Members: $225 per week
  • Program Participants: $252 per week

Test your strength, strategy, and skill at Climbing Camp! Each day focuses on a challenging high element such as the giant swing, the pamper pole, the bouldering wall, and the climbing wall at DayCroix. Learn valuable skills as you build your self-confidence. This camp is designed to get you out of your comfort zone and into an unforgettable adventure!

Teen Quest

  • Weeks of June 25; July 9, 16, 23 & 30; August 6, 13 & 20
  • Y Members: $206 per week
  • Program Participants: $232 per week

Teen Quest is an exciting day camp program geared toward teens who want total outdoor fun! Together as a group, your quest will be to decide and plan out many of the camp activities and events throughout the week. This program develops valuable life skills such as open communication, team-building, cooperation, and conflict resolution. There are several activities to choose from including recreational lake swimming, canoeing along the shores, climbing the rock/obstacle tower, nature studies, environmental education, service projects, and much more! A highlight of this program is the Thursday overnight at Camp St. Croix. Don’t miss this action-packed program!

Leaders-In-Training

  • Two-week session 
  • Weeks of June 18 - 29; July 30 - August 10
  • Y Members: $328 per 2-week session
  • Program Participants: $352 per 2-week session

Rise to the challenge of Leaders-in-Training Camp and discover the leadership qualities within you! LITs will learn and develop camp skills needed to lead camper activities, including personal development through confidence building and responsibility management, as well as group development through activity planning and event organization. Then, you’ll have opportunities to shadow counselors of younger campers and assist staff in their camp activities. There will also be plenty of time to hang out with friends-new and old-including an overnight! Come experience camp from a whole new perspective!
