The YMCA and Junior Achievement have partnered together to offer Biztown. This unique, one-week experience places kids in a role to discover, investigate and become productive citizens in a life-size replica of a real city. During the first four days, participants learn first-hand what it takes to create and sustain a business, supervise employees, manage income and expenses, and hold an elected office. Participants will also learn to manage personal finances, such as writing checks and bookkeeping. The highlight of the week is a trip to Biztown in Maplewood where kids apply their learning and will “run the city” by operating the bank, post office, radio station, snack shop, city newspaper, city hall, and retail shops.
