World Service leads the mobilization of resources to strengthen YMCA work overseas.

Founded in 1889, World Service raises awareness of and financial support for the powerful work the global Y is doing every day. World Service support helps Ys around the world deliver the life-changing programs that help people thrive and reach their full potential.

Often operating in difficult social and economic conditions, Ys empower people with the knowledge, life skills, values and resources to create a better future for themselves and their families.

Locally we raise funds to support The Y Global Community who in turn work directly with our global partners. Our Ys and Camps have raised money to support emergency relief efforts in Sri Lanak, Haiti, New Zealand and Japan.

The Y excels at disaster recovery. We work in tandem with partners like the Red Cross and organize activities once the crisis is over.  Once basic needs like food and shelter are met, the Y provides re-entry services through local Y, making sure kids and family have access to counseling and activities to re-engage with their family and community.  Learn about our Operation Northside Relief Efforts in response to the tornado damage in our North Minneapolis Community the summer of 2011.
