Holiday Baskets

Operation Holiday Basket is a joint program between the Hiawatha YMCA and Roosevelt High School. The program has been giving families in South Minneapolis Holiday dinners for 40 years.

Donations are needed to help purchase the 350 turkeys required. All other foods and items in the Holiday Basket are donated from various sources.

In four decades, the baskets have fed diverse groups of low-income families as well as people with disabilities, and families in hard times at the holidays.

More than 200 volunteers help with the program, largely students and staff in South Minneapolis schools.

If you are part of a family in need you must make a formal request by contacting the South Minneapolis Y at 612-827-5401.
