Be@School Program

The Minneapolis YMCA has been involved for more than a decade in targeted truancy programs in South Minneapolis and, more recently, in the Northwest Hennepin County suburbs.  Cycles of crime and violence often begin with students who are “disconnected” from their schools and other crucial social organizations. The YMCA staff will reach out to those students and to help them “re-connect” with school, positive activities, adult role models, and their communities in general. Y Staff partner with educators, school counselors, parents, Hennepin County staff, and outside agencies to help youth and families remain committed to the youth’s education and provide family support when needed.
