The YMCA Regional Probation Program works with youth 12 to 21 years of age that have become involved in the Juvenile Justice system and who are currently on probation.
The YMCA staff partner with Hennepin County Probation Officers to implement the program goals. The YMCA Community Specialists develop relationships with youth and their families and assist youth in continuing their education by partnering with middle and high school staff, school counselors and tutoring programs. The Community Specialist assist the youth in securing employment (if applicable) by working with local employment agencies for assistance with employment training, resources and placement. The Community Specialist work with other community agencies and resources to help youth find positive, recreational and social activities, life skills, address behavior issues and find opportunities for community service to complete restitution.
