The YMCA offers all kinds of wellness opportunities for active older adults—from baby boomers to seniors—including physical fitness, social activities and more.

If you’re not sure how to get started, ask Member Services about group orientation at your local Y. Get an in-depth look at all programs and classes for ages 55+, and how-to information for making the most of your Y experience.

Wellness Consultations

Members can take advantage of a complementary Wellness Consultation—an opportunity to become comfortable in your YMCA by meeting with a fitness professional. We’ll assess your goals and needs, and support your path to a healthy lifestyle. As part of a Wellness Consultation, you can get request a fall risk assessment or senior fitness assessment. Ask for the Group Exercise/Active Older Adults Program Manager at your local Y to get more info and schedule your consultation.

Upcoming events

The Y organizes field trips for ages 55+ throughout the year and also holds special events. Don’t miss the variety of fun social activities available through your local Y, or these upcoming metro-area events:

  • The Gathering: 10am to 2pm on September 17
    Join hundreds of active older adults from the Twin Cities metro area to enjoy lively entertainment, health screenings and fun activities. A small registration fee includes lunch and roundtrip transportation between your YMCA and the event at River Center. Ask for the Group Exercise/Active Older Adults Program Manager at your local Y to get more info and register.
