Spinning is a heart rate-based indoor cycling class. Spinning utilizes strength, interval, endurance, recovery and race day class formats to provide a wide range of fitness benefits. Everyone will benefit from Spinning and participants are encouraged to utilize Heart Rate Monitors and Rate of Perceived Exertion to personalize the class to suit their individual fitness goals.

  • Kids ages 10 – 14 may attend with a parent or guardian
  • Teens age 15+ may attend unaccompanied by an adult

A Typical Class

Classes are held in our fitness studio, with dynamic music that creates an energized atmosphere. Positions include: seated with hands resting on the center of the handle bars, standing with hands lightly on the handle bars and standing with the body extended over the handles. Classes warm up first, then move to upbeat cadences, sprints, and climbs and end with a cool-down.

New to class? Arrive a little early so our instructor can give you some pointers

  • No bike riding experience needed
  • You control the intensity

Equipment Needed

  • Participants: Hand-wraps are highly recommended to avoid blisters
  • Stationary bikes provided by the Y

Attire and What to Bring

  • Come to class dressed and ready to move your body
  • Wear loose-fitting, functional workout clothing made of breathable material to allow air flow
  • Proper gym shoes, comfortable fit
  • Water, towel
