This class is for swimmers who wish to refine and improve their breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke and want to use swimming for exercise.
Prerequisites - Complete Stroke Technique- Front and Back Crawl or be able to perform these skills:
- Swim front crawl for 100 yards in good form
- Swim back crawl for 100 yards in good form
Ratio: six participants, one instructor
A Typical Class
Swimmers will concentrate on steps that will fully develop their performance of the breaststroke, sidestroke, and elementary backstroke. Participants will learn how to use swimming for exercise and fine-tune kicking, breathing and timing.
Class Length: 40 minutes

Tips + Preparation
- Arrive early; allow at least 10 minutes prior to class start times to change into swimming attire and to stow away items in the locker room.
- Use the restroom and shower with soap before entering the pool.
- Recommended: bring goggles and wear a durable, secure swimsuit.
Attire and What to Bring
- Come to class dressed and ready for the pool.
- Clothes, street shoes and other personal items can be stored in the locker rooms; bring your own lock and leave your valuables at home.
- Family appropriate, clean swimsuit and swim attire is required. A durable, secure swimsuit is recommended.
- Sandals or flip-flops are permitted in the pool area; No street shoes permitted
- Towel, goggles if desired. Masks and snorkels are not allowed.
