Water Triathlon Training

Discounted for Members

  • Ages: 18 years +
  • Ratio: six participants, one instructor

Pre-requisites:

  • Basic knowledge of front crawl
  • Swim a minimum of 200 consecutive yards
  • Member Price: 8-day Swim Lessons $45, 5-day Swim Lessons $40
  • Non-Member Price: 8-day Swim Lessons $114, 5-day Swim Lessons $100

Train for the water leg of a triathlon through interval training and stroke development, and enjoy the benefits of training as a group. Participants receive three instructor-prepared swim workouts per week, one to complete during class and two to complete independently.

A Typical Class

The class is structured on a three workout per week system. One workout is during class, with a coach who provides feedback and motivation. The two independent workouts will help you stay on track all week long. One of the independent workouts is a long swim of 20 or 30 minutes based on competition lengths.

Tips & Preparation

  • Arrive early; allow at least 10 minutes prior to class start times to change into swimming attire and to stow away items in the locker room.
  • Come to class dressed and ready for the pool.
  • Clothes, street shoes and other personal items can be stored in the locker rooms; bring your own lock and leave your valuables at home.
  • Use the restroom and shower with soap before entering the pool.
  • If you are training for a specific triathlon, share with your instructor the swim course distance and any other information you have, so they can help you prepare effectively.
  • Recommended: bring goggles and wear a durable, secure swimsuit.

Attire and What to Bring

  • Family appropriate, clean swimsuit and swim attire is required.  A durable, secure swimsuit is recommended
  • Sandals or flip-flops are permitted in the pool area; No street shoes permitted
  • Towel, goggles if desired.  Masks and snorkels are not allowed.
