Child and Teen Specialty Classes

Young swimmers who love the water, want further instruction and a solid foundation for future aquatics will enjoy participating in our Specialty Classes. Classes vary by Y location.

Competitive Stroke & Turn Development 1—Ages 5-18; Must demonstrate Freestyle and Backstroke with knowledge of Butterfly and Breaststroke plus other basics. Class develops and improves the four competitive strokes.

Diving 1—Age 7+, teaches beginners the basics of competitive diving.

Diving 2—Age 7+, introduces intermediate divers to more advanced competitive diving, including dives in straight, pike and tuck body positions, dives with twists, and somersaults.

Log Rolling—Ages 5+; Teaches the basics of Log Rolling.

Pool Crew—Ages 11-14 years; Must pass Fish or perform equivalent skills. This class gives instruction and hands on experience to participants interested in the aquatics positions of lifeguard and swim instructor.

Swim Crew—Ages 8-16 years; Must pass Fish or perform equivalent skills. Swimmers explore what it’s like to be on a swim team without committing to a whole season.

Swim Crew Jr.—Ages 5-9 years; Must pass Minnow or perform equivalent skills. Young swimmers explore what it’s like to be on a swim team without committing to a whole season.
