Diabetes Prevention

The YMCA's Diabetes Prevention Program is specifically for people who are overweight and have "pre-diabetes" or are at risk for acquiring Type 2 diabetes. It is group-based and delivered over 16, one-hour core sessions facilitated by a trained Lifestyle Coach. We’ll cover nutrition, physical activity and behavior modification. Monthly maintenance meetings follow the core sessions.

The YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program is an evidence-based program that uses a group lifestyle intervention designed to reduce the risk of diabetes in individuals with pre-diabetes or at high risk for developing type 2 diabetes. This program has been proven to cut people’s chances of developing the disease by more than half. You do not need to be a YMCA member to participate.  Click here for a brief overview of the program.

Class locations vary and are held throughout the Greater Twin Cities and Western Wisconsin.

Please contact your UnitedHealth Group or Medica Insurance provider to determine eligibility. If you are not covered by insurance the program is still available to you

Cost for a full year access (16 weekly core sessions plus 8 monthly sessions maintenance) will be $249 member/$320 non-member.

Being a part of this group really helped me stay on track, gain fitness and finally lose weight without any hunger or stress. It is a comprehensive program of both learning and practice.
