Registration Fee $50 per child, one-time, non-refundable fee. Weekly fee includes all field trip admissions, open swimming, program t-shirt and program supplies.
Summer Power Kindergarten is a full-day, fun-filled program where children make new friends and learn new things through play in preparation for school in the fall. Theyll explore their world in small groups through age- and development-appropriate activities. Special themes guide weekly features and field trips as kids explore zoos, museums and parks. Trained YMCA staff provides responsible and secure supervision at all times.

Customize your childs summer to fit the needs of your family. Enroll your child for the whole summer, choose a few weeks, or mix it up even more with full and partial weeks.

Summer Power is a super-lively, full-day enrichment program focused on quality, small group, age- appropriate activities. Kids stay motivated, entertained and are encouraged to make choices and exercise independent thinking. Each week is packed with an amazing variety of activities including multiple field trips weekly to exciting places. Not only are the kids entertained and engaged, theyre learning new things and making new friends.
No two weeks are alike! Some of the popular things your kids will enjoy every week are:
- Arts & Humanities creative projects and learning through the arts
- Science Projects fun and learning through hands-on exploration
- Health & Fitness staying fit, healthy and strong while having a blast
- Large-group Games playing Capture The Flag, Kickball, Scavenger Hunts and other popular kids games and sports.
- Values-strengthening Activities projects, skits and more to help the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility come to life
- Service Projects having fun while helping others
- Water Activities trips to pools, water parks and other wet and wild fun
- Wonderful Spaces multiple outdoor and indoor areas enhance summer activities
Intriguing weekly themes guide engaging activities and give kids topics to look forward to. Themes are outlined on the next page. Trained YMCA staff provides supervision, care and guidance for participants in this unrivaled summer program. Its honest-to-goodness fun!

June 14 18 Here Comes The Sun
A kick-off to summer with loads of outdoor activities for kids to have fun in the warmth of the sun.
June 21 25 Fun With Food
Play with your food! Try different foods and learn about nutrition. Creative activities will have you using foods like never before.
June 28 July 2 Take A Hike
Smores anyone? Explore and learn about the natural world around us with eco-friendly projects and animal track identification.
July 5 9 Stars & Stripes
Celebrate the USA and all of its glory! From patriotic anthems to the evolution of pop culture, America comes alive!
July 12 16 Rock & Roll
Enjoy decades of great music and dance to the beat that shaped generations.
July 19 23 Lumber Jacks & Jills
Learn about natural history and the lifestyles of those that came before us through visits to outdoor parks and museums.
July 26 30 Festival Of Nations
Discover the world through experiencing other cultures and enjoying foods from around the world.
August 2 6 Circus Life
Join the fun with a week of juggling, face painting and wacky activities!
August 9 13 Round-up At The OK Corral
Cowboys and cowgirls giddy-up to the Wild Wild West with activities like bike rodeos, western campfire songs, and the experience of cowboy life now and then.
August 16 20 High Flyers
Everythings off the ground and up in the air as kids take a look at airplanes, kites and all things that fly.
August 23 27 Marvelous Minnesota
Paul Bunyan, Babe the Blue Ox and the Northwoods come alive as kids explore the lore, legends and the land we call Minnesota.
August 30 September 3 Going Places
Pack your imaginary bag for a trip learning about passports, travel agents, transportation and the wonders of touring.
Summer Power Specialty Program#
Summer Power Specialty Programs are designed to give you a chance to focus on your favorite hobby or explore new ones! Youll spend a large portion of each day focusing on your selected program. The remaining time will be spent on traditional Summer Power activities such as swimming, games, and theme-based activities.
Program related field trips are included.
Hours: 6:30 a.m. 6 p.m.
Program Day Hours: 9 a.m. 4 p.m.
Children will be grouped by age.
Splash
Entering grades 2 5 in fall, 2010
Fee: $180/Week
Offered June 21 25 and August 2 6
If you love water, and lots of it, Splash is the program for you! Each day features a new adventure in water fun including indoor and outdoor water games, water relays, and activities. Visit local water park attractions perfect for cooling off during warm summer days!
Boy Power!
Entering grades 2 5 in fall, 2010
Fee: $180/Week
Offered June 28 July 2
Boys will be boys! Hang out with friends and celebrate the differences and similarities of being a boy. Play fun games and activities and take exciting field trips, such as to see race car driving, sporting events and other fun boy stuff.
Theater

Theres no business like show business! Our theater program is a great way to explore performing arts. You will work on various acting techniques and participate in a variety of acting workshops. Learn and perform a show for the Summer Program participants. On top of that, youll attend a play and go behind the scenes to see what staging and theater production is all about!
Sports Sampler (Baseball, Floor Hockey, Soccer and Basketball)

If you love sports and want to improve your skills, join us for an action-packed week! Practice your skills through workshops, drills, scrimmages, and games. We will be taking a sports related field trip.
Girl Power!
Entering grades 2 5 in fall, 2010

You go girl! Are you a Tom Boy or a Diva? Girl Power has something for every girl. These girls are going to play hard, be creative, and take a little time to pamper themselves. During the week we will learn a little about healthy eating, exercise, and self-esteem, as well as taking some time to pamper ourselves, along with a special field trip geared to explore your inner girl.
Cooking Creations
Entering grades 2 5 in fall, 2010

Discover the chef inside of you! Learn how to prepare and measure ingredients for recipes that are sure to delight your taste buds! Prepare mouth-watering main dishes and delicious desserts that everyone will enjoy. At the end of the week you will put your new skills to work running your own restaurant. This week features a behind-the-scenes tour of a local restaurant.
Adventures in Art
Entering grades 2 5 in fall, 2010

Tap into the artist within you! Express your creativity as you work on a variety of craft projects and art pieces! Enjoy painting, pottery, beadwork, and other projects that you can make and take home to share. A special field trip allows you to explore the wonderful facets of art culture within the Twin Cities!

Summer Uproar is a full-day, experience-based enrichment program that encourages older kids to explore their ever- expanding world, increase understanding, build independence and have a boatload of fun. Uproar brings a multitude of character development experiences to kids through community involvement, leadership activities, team building exercises, goal setting and more! Days are filled with super field trips, outings to amusement and water parks, and in fun group activities that exercise the body, challenge the mind and nurture the spirit of our youth.
