Summer Power Kindergarten #

For children entering Kindergarten or grade 1 in fall

3-day minimum is required. One-time, non-refundable registration fee of $50
per child includes program T-shirt. Weekly fee includes all field trip admissions, theme activities, open swimming, and program supplies. 

Hours:    6:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Program Day Hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Children must be present for the full program day.

New friends will be made in a safe and fun-filled environment at Y Summer Power Kindergarten. Weekly themes and field trips bring new adventures as zoos, museums and parks become a part of your child's classroom. Children explore their world through activities geared to their age and development level. A focus on learning through play helps your child continue their preparation for school in the fall. We provide responsible and secure supervision at all times as well as smaller groups sizes to fit your child's needs. See the growth in your child in one short summer!

Kids enjoy their day in small, age-appropriate groups and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, group games, cooking, swimming, sports, and weekly field trips, under the guidance of our trained Y staff. Each week features a different theme as they explore nature, science, sports, technology, and more. Water parks, zoos, museums, major sporting events, and regional and local parks are just a few of the field trip adventures! Register for one week or the whole summer!

Summer Power Specialty Program#

Summer Power Specialty Programs are designed to give you a chance to focus on your favorite hobby or explore new ones! At each of our specialty programs, you'll spend a large portion of each day focusing on your selected program. The remaining time will be spent on traditional Summer Power activities such as swimming, games, and large-group activities. You'll enjoy field trips that tie in with the theme of the week!

Program Day Hours: 9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Children must be present for the full program day.

Adventures in Art

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

Tap into the artist within you! Express your creativity as you work on a variety of craft projects and art pieces! Enjoy painting, pottery, beadwork, and other projects that you can make and take home to share. A special field trip allows you to explore the wonderful facets of art culture within the Twin Cities!

Splash

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

If you love water, and lots of it, Splash is the program for you! Each day features a new adventure in water fun including indoor and outdoor water games, water relays, and activities. Visit local water park attractions — perfect for cooling off during warm summer days!

Fur, Fangs and Feathers

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

Love animals of all kinds? You will love this hands-on animal exploration program! Interact with animals at Camp Manitou. Compare and contrast the characteristics of many common and not-so-common animals. Visits to the local zoos are some of the highlights of the week. See the wonderful ways that animals enrich our lives and how to care for them.

Boy Power!

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

Boys will be boys! Hang out with friends and celebrate the differences and similarities of being a boy. Play fun games and activities and take exciting field trips, such as to see race car driving, sporting events and other fun boy stuff.

Theater

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

There's no business like show business! If you have an interest in acting, our theater program is a great way to explore performing arts. During the week, you and your group will work on various acting techniques and participate in a variety of acting workshops. Learn and perform a show for the Summer Program participants.

On top of that, you'll have the opportunity to attend a play and go behind the scenes to see what staging and theater production is all about!

Hoops (Basketball)

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

If you love the game of basketball and want to improve your skills, join us on the court for an action-packed week! Practice your passing and shooting skills through workshops, drills, scrimmages, and games. We will be taking a basketball related field trip.

Silly Science

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

Take off into a world of exploration through hands-on experiments including things like rockets, catapults, egg drops, and much more! Learn the science and dynamics behind inventions that you build. Visit local museums that feature the exciting world of science. At the end of the week, you'll display your invention projects at our science fair for parents and summer program participants to see!

Girl Power!

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

You go girl! Are you a Tom Boy or a Diva? Girl Power has something for every girl. These girls are going to play hard, be creative, and take a little time to pamper themselves. During the week we will learn a little about healthy eating, exercise, and self-esteem, as well as taking some time to pamper ourselves, along with a special field trip geared to explore your inner girl.

Explore the Great Outdoors

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

The great outdoors provides wonderful resources for you to develop camping skills! Learn to pitch a tent, build a campfire, prepare an authentic campfire meal (no gas burners used here!), and other useful skills. At the end of the week, you'll test your camping abilities with an overnight adventure at Camp Manitou. While you're there, enjoy canoeing, nature talks, hiking, swimming, and more!

Music and Rhythm

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

Introduce your kids to the joy of music! Kids will explore music from around the world. We'll sing, dance, make and play our own musical instruments, and use our imagination to create music! The week may also include field trips to area music venues to hear live music performances. These activities help kids connect rhythm and music, as well as focused listening and self expression.

Cooking Creations

For youth entering grades 2 - 6 in the fall.
Children will be grouped by age.

Discover the chef inside of you! Learn how to prepare and measure ingredients for simple, yet tasty recipes that are sure to delight your taste buds! Our cooking program will show you how to prepare mouth-watering main dishes and delicious desserts that everyone will enjoy. At the end of the week you will put your new skills to work running your own restaurant. This week will feature a behind-the-scenes tour of a local restaurant.

Before and After Care Sites

For your convenience and peace of mind, our Before and After Care provides the camper with supervised activities prior to and following the end of the program day.

Uproar provides an exciting combination of spirited adventures and growth opportunities that challenge the mind and stretch the body! Exciting field trips, group activities, and local amusement and water parks are among the many fun things to do at Uproar.
