School Age Programs

Summer Power#

For children entering grades K - 5 in the fall.
One-time, non-refundable registration fee of $50 per child includes T-shirt. Please indicate child's T-shirt size on registration form.
Weekly fee includes all field trip admissions, afternoon snack, open swimming, and program supplies.
Program Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Summer Power is your answer to quality care and exciting adventures for your child this summer. We offer a full-day enrichment program with flexible 3-, 4-, and 5-day options. Kids enjoy their day in age-appropriate groups and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, group games, sports, and weekly field trips, under the guidance of our trained Y staff. The program offers different themes as they explore nature, science, sports, technology, and more. Water parks, zoos, museums, major sporting events, amusement parks, and regional and local parks are just a few of the field trip adventures. Register for one week or the whole summer!

Y Summer Uproar#

For preteens and teens entering grades 5 - 9 in the fall.
There is a one-time, non-refundable registration fee of $50 per child and includes T-Shirt.

Uproar provides an exciting combination of spirited adventures and growth opportunities that challenge the mind and stretch the body! Exciting field trips, group activities, and local amusement and water parks are among the many fun things to do at Uproar. The staff counselors provide character development opportunities to encourage independence and responsibility.

Interested in attending the field trip only? You can do so through our Day Trippers Program. Day trips will be to parks, sporting games, museums and much more! Field trips vary by day and are subject to change.

Summer Sports is a safe, fun, low-competitive program designed to build teamwork, sports skills, and self-esteem. If you can't decide which week to come, choose our Sports Sampler week where you can participate in all the sports! Whether learning how to play a new sport or refining old skills, each child is a winner at the YMCA! Each clinic includes a sports related field trip. At the end of the week, show off your skills in a fun scrimmage with other YMCAs!

Y Summer Sports Sampler:

Summer Sports Sampler is a safe, fun, non-competitive program designed to build teamwork, leadership skills, and self-esteem. Every week participants will learn about sportsmanship and the joy of athletics through specialty clinics, theme weeks and recreational play. Youth will be able to practice and play sports including basketball, baseball/T-ball, floor hockey, soccer and swimming. Whether learning how to play a new sport or refining old skills, you'll improve your game skills at the YMCA!

T-Ball/Baseball Clinic

For youth entering grades K - 5 in the fall.

Wind up for a challenging week of baseball! You will work on improving your skills with plenty of practice batting, pitching, throwing, and running bases. You and your team will put it all together and play a series of games.

Basketball Clinic

For youth entering grades K - 5 in the fall.

If you love the game of basketball and want to improve your skills, join us on the court for an action-packed week! Practice your passing and shooting skills through workshops, drills, scrimmages, and games—both on land and in the water!

Soccer Clinic

For youth entering grades K - 5 in the fall.

Improve your soccer skills! You'll learn ball-control skills such as passing, trapping, and shooting, plus, you'll have the opportunity to play every position. Experience the fun and excitement of soccer during practice drills and game scrimmages in a non-competitive environment. Participants have the option of bringing their own shin guards and plastic cleats.

Flag Football Clinic

For youth entering grades K - 2 in the fall.

Practice skills and drills during the week to hone your offensive and defensive football skills while focusing on sportsmanship and “everybody plays, everybody wins.” How many flags will you pull?

Razzle Dazzle Football Clinic

For youth entering grades 3 - 5 in the fall.

No blocking, no tackling, no contact... just lots of fun! Participants run the program with guidance from coaches, designing their own plays, and facilitating games and practices. Unique elements include fewer players on the field and allowing the ball to be thrown anywhere on the field at anytime. Practice skills and drills during the week to hone your offensive and defensive football skills while learning sportsmanship. Our focus on teamwork, sportsmanship and fun means everybody plays and everybody wins!

Swimming & Diving Clinic

For youth entering grades 2 - 5 in the fall.

Get into shape with our pre-season swim team warm-up and diving program. During the diving segment, you will learn the fundamentals of Three-Step Approach, Front and Back dives, and beginning techniques for competitive diving. During the swimming segment you will develop additional swim team skills. There will even be a trip
to a local water park.

Wrestling Clinic

For youth entering grades K - 5 in the fall.

Learn basic wrestling skills and drills, and compete in matches. Our focus on teamwork, sportsmanship and fun means everybody plays and everybody wins!

Floor Hockey Clinic

For youth entering grades K - 5 in the fall.

Learn the team sport that remains a favorite! This introductory level clinic will demonstrate basic Floor Hockey skills such as passing, shooting, stick handling and defensive strategy. Participants will learn fundamental skills, and perform practice drills and scrimmages.

Lacrosse Clinic

For youth entering grades 2 - 5 in the fall.

Try out the hottest new team sport! This introductory level clinic will demonstrate basic Lacrosse skills such as throwing, catching and cradling with both hands. Participants will learn fundamental skills, and perform practice drills and scrimmages.

Golf Clinic

For youth entering grades 2 - 5 in the fall.
For youth entering grades 6 - 9 in the fall.
Program Hours: 6:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Learn from the Pros. The YMCA has teamed up with Gopher Hills Golf Course to provide a complete golf package. Golfers will learn the skills of the game from one of two professional golf instructors. Each participant will have the opportunity to hit on the driving range, play several rounds of golf throughout the week. No matter if you are just getting started or would like the extra practice, this is the ultimate summer golf experience. No equipment necessary.

Golf I - Little or no experience.
Golf II - Some experience and is comfortable on a golf course.
Golf III - Experienced golfers will play 9 holes everyday. No instruction will be given to Golf III participants.

Y Summer Extreme#

The Summer Extreme program offers challenging activities designed to get you out of your comfort zone and into an unforgettable adventure! Learn valuable skills and build self-confidence.

Fishing Program

For youth entering grades 3 - 6 in the fall.

Don't let this program be “the one that got away!” Local rivers and lakes provide the scene each day for pontoon boat and shoreline fishing fun using the catch-and-release method. Learn basic fishing skills and safety. Bait is provided. Bring your own pole and tackle.

Art Program

For youth entering grades 3 - 6 in the fall.

Express your creativity! Participate in a variety of arts and crafts projects including painting, pottery, beadwork, and more. The highlight of the week is a special field trip to explore the amazing art culture within the Twin Cities.

Extreme Video Gaming

For youth entering grades 2 - 5 in the fall.
For youth entering grades 6 - 9 in the fall.

Experience a new way to play video games! Exercise your mind and body playing games such as Dance, Dance Revolution and Wii Nintendo. Class will focus on fun and healthy games, excluding those with extreme or graphic violent content. This camp will include educational field trips and special speakers to explore the technology behind video games.

Extreme Dance/Fitness Sampler

For youth entering grades 3 - 5 in the fall.
For youth entering grades 6 - 9 in the fall.

Learn all types of dance from our certified dance instructors. Participants will learn everything from Hip Hop to Latin Dance. Participants will also learn choreography in a group setting. If you like dance and love listening to the newest dance music, this is for you!

Extreme Fit Kids

For youth entering grades 2 - 5 in the fall
For youth entering grades 6 - 9 in the fall.

This week-long experience will teach children the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. If you are looking to eat better, lose weight, gain healthy habits, learn how to get in shape and have fun doing it, this is for you. Participants will work with professionals in the fitness and nutrition field to provide a positive, healthy life experience for all ages.

Wee Backpackers at Hastings YMCA!#

NEW this year, the Hastings YMCA Will offer a day camp experience at Dakota County Spring Lake Park Reserve in Hastings. YMCA Day Camp is a wonderful place for your child to experience fun, outdoor adventures this summer! Camp provides a week packed full of exciting activities. Campers participate in small groups as they build self-esteem, learn new skills and practice the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. And each year every child leaves with special beads to mark their accomplishments and treasured experiences.

Wee Backpackers

For campers 4 & 5 years old, including campers entering Kindergarten in the fall.

Start your preschooler's love affair with the great outdoors by enrolling him or her in Wee Backpackers! From the moment campers arrive each day, counselors guide them through traditional camp experiences including hiking, nature study, and arts and crafts. They will have opportunities to savor the wonderful flavors of outdoor cookouts, sing songs, tell stories, meet new friends, and more. All activities are geared to show your preschool camper the wonders of nature. Wee Backpackers is carried out under the watchful eye of counselors trained to meet the needs of young campers. We maintain a staff to child ratio of 1:6.
