Summer Power #

For youth entering grades K - 5 in the fall.
Non-refundable registration fee of $50 per child includes program T-shirt.
Weekly fee includes all field trip admissions, open swimming, and program supplies.

Summer Power is your answer to quality care and exciting adventures for your child this summer. We offer a full day enrichment program with flexible 3-, 4-, and 5-day options. Kids enjoy their day in small age-appropriate groups and participate in activities such as arts and crafts, group games, sports, and weekly field trips, under the guidance of our trained Y staff. Each week features a different theme as they explore nature, science, sports, technology, and more. Water parks, zoos, museums, major sporting events, amusement parks, and regional and local parks are just a few of the field trip adventures! Register for one week or the whole summer!

Summer Sports is a safe, fun, low-competitive program designed to build teamwork, sports skills, and self-esteem. If you can't decide which week to come, choose our Sports Sampler week where you can participate in all the sports! Whether learning how to play a new sport or refining old skills, each child is a winner at the YMCA! Each clinic includes a sports related field trip. At the end of the week, show off your skills in a fun scrimmage with other YMCAs!

Diving & Swimming Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Get into shape with our pre-season swim team warm-up and diving program.  During the diving segment, you will learn the fundamentals of Three-Step Approach, Front and Back dives, and beginning techniques for competitive diving. During the swimming segment you will develop additional swim team skills. There will even be a trip to a local water park. Participants must be able to swim one length of the outdoor pool on their front and back in good form.

Baseball/Softball Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Wind up for a challenging week of baseball and softball! You will work on improving your skills with plenty of practice batting, pitching, throwing, and running bases. You and your team will put it all together and play a series of games. Bring your own glove. 

Soccer Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Improve your soccer skills! You'll learn ball-control skills such as passing, trapping, and shooting, plus, you'll have the opportunity to play every position. Experience the fun and excitement of soccer during practice drills and game scrimmages in a non-competitive environment. Participants have the option of bringing their own shin guards and plastic cleats.

Tennis Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

At local community tennis courts you'll work on a variety of drills such as proper forehand and backhand swings, anticipating the tennis ball, and basic play strategies. Work out your skills on the court playing a set or two of tennis as you learn the rules of the game and its unique scorekeeping. At the end of the week have a fun tennis competition that makes use of your new skills. You will need to bring our own racquet. Tennis balls will be provided.

Sports Sampler Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Enjoy a sampling of traditional and non-traditional sports! Learn about sportsmanship and practice athletic skills and drills. Play a variety of sports including baseball/softball, lacrosse, kickball, and soccer.

Golf Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Fore! Learn why this term is important to yell out in the fairway while golfing any course! Besides learning golf terminology, spend all week receiving basic golf instruction. You'll learn about proper grips, stances, and alignment for setting up great golf shots. Practice perfecting your swing at the driving range and improve your putting skills at a miniature golf course! At the end of the week, you'll put your skills together and play a round of golf at a local golf course that will suit your golfing ability! Bring your own golf clubs!

Basketball Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

If you love basketball and want to improve your skills, join us on the court for an action-packed week! Practice your passing and shooting skills through workshops, drills, scrimmages, and games.

Flag Football Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

No blocking, no tackling, no contact... just lots of fun. Practice skills and drills during the week to hone your offensive and defensive football skills while focusing on sportsmanship and “everybody plays, everybody wins.” How many flags will you pull?

Cheer & Dance Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Give me a “Y”! Learn the foundations of cheer from a skilled cheer coach, including basic cheer counts, steps, jumps, moves and group synchronization. Participants will break into small groups to create, practice and perform their routines for their families at the end of the week.

Lacrosse Clinic

For youth entering grades 1 - 6 in the fall.

Try out the hottest new team sport! This introductory level clinic will demonstrate basic Lacrosse skills such as throwing, catching and cradling with both hands. Participants will learn fundamental skills, and perform practice drills
and scrimmages.
 

Y Summer Extreme #

Each week of Summer Extreme focuses on a challenging theme designed to get you out of your comfort zone and into an unforgettable adventure! Learn valuable skills and build self-confidence from any of our high adventure Extreme weeks.

Extreme Cuisine

For youth entering grades 4 - 8 in the fall.

Participate in a week of culinary adventure! You will not only learn about food preparation, but food safety, presentation, etiquette, and menu planning also. At the end of the week, grab your apron because you will be planning and preparing a formal luncheon for your invited guests. Each participant will have the opportunity to invite two adults to enjoy a gourmet luncheon prepared and served by you and your Extreme Cuisine chefs. Bon appetite!

Rock Climbing Clinic

For youth entering grades 4 - 8 in the fall.

Extreme Rock Climbing experienced instructors at the Vertical Endeavors training center will teach you about equipment, footings, grips, belaying, knot tying, movement strategies and safety. Then you'll use your new skills to climb at Taylors Falls. All equipment is provided.

Extreme Video Gaming

For youth entering grades 4 - 8 in the fall.

Experience a new way to play video games! Exercise your mind and body playing games such as Dance, Dance Revolution and Wii Nintendo. Class will focus on fun and healthy games, excluding those with extreme or graphic violent content. This camp will include educational field trips and special speakers to explore the technology behind video games.

Skate Boarding / In-Line Skating Clinic

For youth entering grades 4 - 8 in the fall.

Each day, participants will visit a different wheel park where you can test your balance, weight transfer, board handling, and surface maneuvers. Safety gear will be required. Bring your own skateboard or in-line skates, and safety equipment including a helmet, knee and elbow pads, and wrist guards.

YMCA and Junior Achievement's Biztown #

For youth entering grades 4 - 8 in the fall.

The YMCA and Junior Achievement have partnered together to offer Biztown. This unique, one-week experience places you in a role to discover, investigate, and become productive citizens in a life-size replica of a real city. During the first four days, participants will “run the city” by operating the bank, post office, radio station, snack shop, city newspaper, city hall, and retail shops. Learn first-hand what it takes to create and sustain a business, supervise employees, manage income and expenses, and hold an elected office. Participants will also learn to manage personal finances, such as writing checks and book keeping. The highlight of the week is a trip to Biztown in Maplewood where you will apply your learning and run a life-size replica city for the day!

Theater

For youth entering grades 4 - 8 in the fall.

Free your imagination and develop improvisational skills! At Theater Camp, campers will explore the world of theater during games, acting exercises, writing or illustrating a story, learning about stage make-up, designing costumes, and even performing for an audience!

Teens

Summer Uproar #

For preteens and teens entering grades 5 - 8 in the fall.

Uproar provides an exciting combination of spirited adventures and growth opportunities that challenge the mind and stretch the body! Exciting field trips, group activities, and local amusement and water parks are among the many fun things to do at Uproar. The staff provide character development opportunities to encourage independence and responsibility. Register for Y Summer Uproar today - the adventure begins with you!
