Get into shape with our pre-season swim team warm-up and diving program. During the diving segment, you will learn the fundamentals of Three-Step Approach, Front and Back dives, and beginning techniques for competitive diving. During the swimming segment you will develop additional swim team skills. There will even be a trip to a local water park. Participants must be able to swim one length of the outdoor pool on their front and back in good form.
Wind up for a challenging week of baseball and softball! You will work on improving your skills with plenty of practice batting, pitching, throwing, and running bases. You and your team will put it all together and play a series of games. Bring your own glove.
Improve your soccer skills! You'll learn ball-control skills such as passing, trapping, and shooting, plus, you'll have the opportunity to play every position. Experience the fun and excitement of soccer during practice drills and game scrimmages in a non-competitive environment. Participants have the option of bringing their own shin guards and plastic cleats.
If you love basketball and want to improve your skills, join us on the court for an action-packed week! Practice your passing and shooting skills through workshops, drills, scrimmages, and games.
No blocking, no tackling, no contact... just lots of fun. Practice skills and drills during the week to hone your offensive and defensive football skills while focusing on sportsmanship and “everybody plays, everybody wins.” How many flags will you pull?
Give me a “Y”! Learn the foundations of cheer from a skilled cheer coach, including basic cheer counts, steps, jumps, moves and group synchronization. Participants will break into small groups to create, practice and perform their routines for their families at the end of the week.
Each week of Summer Extreme focuses on a challenging theme designed to get you out of your comfort zone and into an unforgettable adventure! Learn valuable skills and build self-confidence from any of our high adventure Extreme weeks.
Participate in a week of culinary adventure! You will not only learn about food preparation, but food safety, presentation, etiquette, and menu planning also. At the end of the week, grab your apron because you will be planning and preparing a formal luncheon for your invited guests. Each participant will have the opportunity to invite two adults to enjoy a gourmet luncheon prepared and served by you and your Extreme Cuisine chefs. Bon appetite!
Extreme Rock Climbing experienced instructors at the Vertical Endeavors training center will teach you about equipment, footings, grips, belaying, knot tying, movement strategies and safety. Then you'll use your new skills to climb at Taylors Falls. All equipment is provided.
Experience a new way to play video games! Exercise your mind and body playing games such as Dance, Dance Revolution and Wii Nintendo. Class will focus on fun and healthy games, excluding those with extreme or graphic violent content. This camp will include educational field trips and special speakers to explore the technology behind video games.
The YMCA and Junior Achievement have partnered together to offer Biztown. This unique, one-week experience places you in a role to discover, investigate, and become productive citizens in a life-size replica of a real city. During the first four days, participants will “run the city” by operating the bank, post office, radio station, snack shop, city newspaper, city hall, and retail shops. Learn first-hand what it takes to create and sustain a business, supervise employees, manage income and expenses, and hold an elected office. Participants will also learn to manage personal finances, such as writing checks and book keeping. The highlight of the week is a trip to Biztown in Maplewood where you will apply your learning and run a life-size replica city for the day!
Free your imagination and develop improvisational skills! At Theater Camp, campers will explore the world of theater during games, acting exercises, writing or illustrating a story, learning about stage make-up, designing costumes, and even performing for an audience!
