Y-Buddies

Mentoring Youth in a One-on-one Environment.

Y-Buddies offers college students the memorable experience of becoming a positive role model, while at the same time emphasizing personal growth, building leadership skills, and learning about social justice.

Y-Buddies pairs college mentors with youth in grades 3-8. Mentors are asked to meet with their Little Buddies weekly. Time can be spent doing things as simple as reading a book together, working on homework, playing a game, or visiting museums. Activities do not have to cost money, and mentors are provided with no- or low-cost activity ideas. Monthly large group activities are also offered, including such activities as the Holidazzle Parade, U-Y Fun Night, sledding, rollerskating, Winterfest at the Winter Carnival, a YMCA lock-in and, Little Buddy Olympics.

Coordinators of the Y-Buddies program can be contacted at y-buddies@ymcampls.org or 612-676-3798
