Swim Academy lessons are offered for all ages. Check the progression order below to find your spot.
Parent/Child Water Adjustment (ages 6-36 months)

Preschool Learn-To-Swim (ages 3-5 years)

 | Pike
Introduces new little swimmers to the pool and helps them develop safe
water habits in a fun and encouraging environment. Pikes focus on basic paddle stroke, kicking skills, blowing bubbles in the water, floating and pool safety. Pikes enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per four swimmers. Prerequisite: None. |  |
 | Polliwog
This beginning level for school-age children helps acquaint them with the
pool and adjust to the water. Swimmers learn front and back floating skills, paddle stroke, personal safety, and the use of flotation devices. Polliwogs enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per four children. Prerequisite: None. |  |
 | Ray
This class is for swimmers who are ready to begin developing endurance as well as improving stroke skills. Rays are taught treading water, rhythmic breathing, and rescue skills. They also learn more about personal water safety. Rays enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per four swimmers. Prerequisite: Pass Eel skills. |  |
 | Starfish
This advanced class is for swimmers who pass Ray level but are still in pre-school. Swimmers review previous skills, personal safety, rescue skills, and work on refining their strokes. They also learn underwater swimming skills. Starfish enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per four children. Prerequisite: Pass Ray skills. |  |
 | Minnow
For the school-age advanced beginner who is new to the Minnow level and developing Minnow skills. Swimmers continue to refine their lead-up stroke skills and develop endurance by swimming 25 yards of refined front crawl and backstroke. Minnows enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per six children. Prerequisite: Pass Guppy or equivalent skills. |  |
 | Fish
Swimmers refine front crawl, backstroke, elementary backstroke, sidestroke and breaststroke. The butterfly stroke is also introduced at this level. Fish swimmers continue to build endurance by swimming up to 50 yards. Fish enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per six children. Prerequisite: Pass Minnow or equivalent skills. |  |
 | Flying Fish
Swimmers in this advanced level focus on stroke enhancements and more endurance. Open turns and treading water with a rotary kick are introduced at this level. Flying Fish enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per six children. Prerequisite: Pass Fish or equivalent skills. |  |
 | Teen Intermediate
Ages 13-17, ratio 1:6. For teens who have some swimming experience and want to improve their strokes. Refine lead-up stroke skills, begin developing endurance through swimming strokes and treading water and learn more about basic rescue and safety skills. Prerequisite: Teen Beginner or equivalent skills. |  |
 | Adult Beginner
Adults with little or no swimming experience will learn about water safety and the fundamentals of stroke development. Adults will receive individualized attention and work on the skills needed to meet individual goals. |  |
 | Shark
Swimmers focus on perfecting their strokes and further increase their endurance with open and flip turns. Swimmers are introduced to the inverted breaststroke, the trudgen crawl and the overarm sidestroke. Sharks enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per six children. Prerequisite: Pass Flying Fish or equivalent skills. |  |
 | Teen Beginner
This class is for teens who have not had swimming lessons or are not comfortable in water. Teens learn fundamental swim skills, including stroke development, rotary breathing, and water safety as they adjust and develop proficiency in the pool. Class sizes are small: one instructor per four swimmers. |  |
 | Fear of Water
Helps adults who are afraid of the water overcome their fear in a safe and positive environment. Adults will develop confidence as they learn basic swimming skills such as floating, paddling and rhythmic breathing. The small class size enables the instructor to provide individual instruction in order to meet each person’s needs. |  |
 | Adult Intermediate & Advanced
Adults who are very comfortable in water and want to work on improving swimming skills and techniques will work with instructors to meet individual goals and expectations. |  |
 | Guppy
These swimmers continue to build their skills practicing paddle stroke skills, floating, and rotary breathing without the aid of flotation devices. Children learn treading water, survival floating, and lead-up strokes to the front crawl, backstroke, sidestroke, breaststroke and elementary backstroke. Guppy swimmers enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per four children. Prerequisite: Pass Polliwog or equivalent skills. |  |
 | Eel
This class is for little swimmers who are well-adjusted to the water and eager to learn more! Eel swimmers continue to build upon Pike skills, such as kicking and progressive paddle stroke. They also learn more about pool safety and develop floating skills. Eels enjoy individualized attention with one instructor per four swimmers. Prerequisite: Pass Pike skills. |  |
 | Sea Turtle
In this water adjustment program, certified instructors guide parents in teaching their children fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Parents accompany children at all times during class. Prerequisite: Able to control head movement and be at least 6 months old. |  |
 | Seahorse
This class teaches water safety, paddle strokes, kicking skills, blowing bubbles with face in the water, and floating. The class serves as a transition from the parent/child to the preschool swim program. Parents begin the session in the water with their children until they become more independent. Prerequisite: Jump on cue (on land). |  |
 | Sea Lion
In this advanced water adjustment program, a certified instructor will guide parents in teaching body position, blowing bubbles, floating and fundamental safety and aquatic skills. Parents will accompany the child at all times during the class. Prerequisite: Comfortable in the water and walk 3 steps independently. |  |
