Volunteer

Take an active role in strengthening our community by volunteering at the Y.  Your time and talent go a long way with us and helps to create a safer, more viable community that's a good place to live and work.

Community

  • Healthy Kids Day - A community involved educational event to promote healthy living for families. -April
  • Community Halloween Party - A Collaborative Halloween celebration for all youth in the Hastings Community. Fun and games, costumes, prizes and a trick or treat street held at the Hasting High School.
  • Safety Camp - A joint effort between Hastings Park and Rec and the Hastings Area YMCA promoting safety in and outside the home environment.
  • Rally Day - Weekend Open House promoting our summer at the Y, day camps and overnight camps.

Events and Fundraising

  • General Fundraising Help – Small Y events throughout the year, asking donors to donate to our Y Partners scholarship fund. – Year Round
  • Call Nights - Make calls during our Y Partners campaign to community members asking for monetary donations.
  • Treadmill Campaign - Runners needed to run on treadmill in lobby- fund raiser for Y partner’s campaign.
  • Auction Table - Week long auction week, with table of fun- Volunteers needed to work fun table – asking members to consider donating to Y partner’s campaign.
  • Nick Clare Memorial Run - 2K, 5k and 10 Mile Run- Volunteers needed to help organize and facilitate run. Funds are donated to the Y partner’s campaign.
  • River Run - 2k and 5K family fun run- Volunteers needed to help organize and facilitate family fun run. This is a collaborate effort to raise funds for Y Partners and the Hastings United Way.
  • Hastings River Town Days - Hastings Community Summer Festival- Parade, Rivertown Days River Booth, and Duck Race. Community involvement and Y Partners campaign.

Kids Stuff

  • Kids Stuff Assistant - Work with small children in Kids Stuff, read stories and/or assist with projects/crafts.
  • Parent’s Night Out - Assist with activities, games and meal service for kids while parents enjoy a night out.

Maintenance and Housekeeping

  • Special projects - Painting, Repairs, and Maintenance. Ground work, gardening, spreading mulch, planting flowers, trimming trees and shrubs.

Member Services

  • Member Greeter and coffee Maker - Welcome members and guests, visit with AOA group.

Youth, Sports, Teen and Family

  • Help and assist coaches on sports leagues and teams.
  • Youth and Teen Night assistance.
  • Special prime time class assistance.
