Join the Papa Bear Bike Ride on June 16

posted on Tue, May 22 2012 8:53 pm by White Bear Area Y

Make the Papa Bear Bike Ride a part of your Father’s Day plans this year.

This year’s family friendly ride is set for Saturday, June 16, starting and finishing at West Lake Park, 4960 Lake Ave. N in White Bear Lake. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with all riders embarking on the 10- or 22-mile routes by 9:30 a.m.

The Papa Bear Bike Ride is filled with extras including actors explaining local history in period dress, free keepsake family photos, root beer and ice cream stops.

Father’s Day got its start at a YMCA in Spokane, Washington in 1909. In that spirit, the White Bear Area YMCA and White Bear Lake Area Schools YMCA Aquatic Center began organizing this White Bear area tradition in coordination with community volunteer and Rotarian Jim Muellner in 2011.

The cost is $10 per person or $25 for a family. The event is sponsored by the Y, Just Two Bikes, and is a part of Manitou Days. Proceeds will go to support financial aid programs at the Y. Register in advance online at https://mplsfd.ymcatwincities.org/PapaBear.

Form more information contact Fitness Director Kim Ustruck via phone at 651-773-2641 or by email at Kim.Ustruck@ymcatwincities.org.
